"Pressure regulators for gas cylinders used in
welding cutting and allied processes up to 300 bar"
 
CHANGES TO REGULATOR MARKINGS
   
The above standard has now been fully adopted in the UK and the equivalent British Standards withdrawn. This document covers all regulators used in welding and cutting applications.

The requirements for marking the operational data on regulators has changed and now requires the following:

"....the information shall be clearly and permanently marked on the pressure regulator body or cover or on a label which is permanently fixed to the regulator". In order to comply with this direction, Murex regulators will be modified to allow the information to be indelibly stamped onto the body. The benefits are that it is permanent and will remain visible throughout the working life of the regulator. The data will be positioned on the back of the regulator body in the following format:

WHAT DO THESE MEAN?

Each gas is now designated by a code letter.

STANDARD
This guarantees that the regulator meets all the requirements of EN ISO 2503. Due to increase cylinder filling pressures in UK only regulators conforming to the current EN Standard should be used.

5 YEAR REPLACEMENT,
In line with the recommendations of BCGA Code of Practice 7, Pressure regulators should be replaced or refurbished after 5 years in service. This mark is a convenient way to identify the required replacement date ie 2004 would be shown on the body.
   
DATE STAMP
This is a Quality Control Code to identify the precise date upon which the unit was manufactured.
