MUREX
PROVIDES THE IDEAL WELDING SOLUTION FOR HEIL EUROPE
Process: MIG
Product: Industrial
MIG Machines
Heil Europe is one
of the world leaders in design and manufacture of refuse collection vehicles.
From its manufacturing facility based in Scotland, the company supplies
a wide range of vehicles throughout the UK and mainland Europe. It manufactures
the complete body from raw materials and considers welding and fabrication
to be a core competence. To support this policy the company has just invested
in 25 new Murex Migpak 403S welding packages.
These replacement welding machines will be used throughout the different
manufacturing processes, from sub-assembly level through to final weld-out
stage on the body assembly lines. Heil Europe already had a number of
Murex welding machines which are around 15 years old and have served well
within a very harsh working environment during that time. Their performance,
together with the renowned quality and technical specification of Murex
products and good service back up, were all primary factors in the specification
of the new Migpak 403s machines. They were also extremely competitively
priced.
The main benefits to Heil of the Murex welding equipment are reliability,
good performance in terms of duty cycle and the ability to produce consistent
quality welds. "Another benefit is the simplicity of the machine and ease
of use for the operators," says Mark Barson, Heil Europe's Manufacturing
Engineering Manager.
The Transmig 403S welding machines have been designed for high productivity
solid or cored wire MIG/MAG welding, using consumables up to 1.6mm and
providing optimum performance on 1.0 and 1.2mm diameter wires. Typical
top end current is around 350A at as much as 60% duty cycle.
Operating from a standard 415V three phase electrical supply, the Murex
Transmig 403S is rugged, reliable and simple to use. It features digital
voltmeter and ammeter as standard and is supplied with 4 wheel undergear
and as part of a complete MIG package, includes the rugged Murex Transmatic
wire-feed unit.
Historically Heil has not made any significant investment in welding equipment,
purchasing perhaps two or three machines every few years. The company's
philosophy has changed having looked at overall weld quality, rising maintenance
costs and production downtime caused by old equipment. The investment
in Murex reflects the company's commitment to investment in the highest
quality welding products.
