One of the most flexible and essential tools in any workshop is the oxy/fuel gas welding and cutting outfit. With the addition of a few simple components the equipment can also be used for a number of different flame processes including flame heating. Murex Welding Products has announced new attachments for heating with its Saffire 5 combined blowpipes range and its NM250 cutters.

Using the standard Saffire 5 shank, heating operations with propane can be carried out by the addition of a heavy duty propane mixer and a 700mm bent neck which screws hand-tight onto the mixer. A selection of nozzles is available which provide a wide range of flame sizes and heat outputs subject to the pressure settings selected.

To heat with acetylene, intense focussed heat can be achieved using the Saffire 5 blowpipe with suitable attachments, such as a heavy duty acetylene mixer, a 200mm bent neck for acetylene and a selection from the range of AHT acetylene heating nozzles.

To heat with acetylene using the Saffire DH3 blowpipe, a special neck and tip assembly is available. The neck screws into the standard mixer and employs an AHT pepper pot type nozzle.

With The addition of a super heating adaptor, the standard Saffire NM250 and NM400 cutters can be used for heating with propane. The adaptor is seated in the head of the cutter and retained with the standard nozzle nut. The super heating nozzle is screwed hand tight to the end of the adaptor. The cutter is then adjusted and operated with the cutting oxygen lever fully depressed. Any of the super heating nozzles can then be selected to suit the flame size and heat output required.
