FORKLIFT TRUCKS WELDED WITH MUREX MACHINES AND CONSUMABLES

Process: MIG

Lansing Linde has an enviable reputation for the forklift trucks and container handling equipment that it manufactures in Blackwood, Gwent, and exports world-wide. The welding processes - for chassis, masts and other components - are critical to the quality of the final product, and the majority of the welding operations are carried out with equipment from Murex Welding Products and consumables from Murex and ESAB.

About 30 Murex MIG welding machines are in use, of many different types and configurations, and most welding is carried out with ESAB's recently introduced OK Autrod 12.64 (SG3) solid wire, which is supplied in 250 kg Marathon Pacs. This wire conforms to the latest European specifications and Lansing Linde achieves excellent results using a 1.2 mm wire with a mixed shielding gas. For larger trucks and masts, the company uses Murex's Corofil B55 flux-cored wire in diameters ranging from 2 to 4 mm. The company has yet to find a better wire for this application. It is excellent for welding dirty materials and is consistent in its quality.

Mr Lawrie Harris, Executive Manager of the Fabrication Department, has many years of experience of purchasing from Murex and he comments: "Their service and backup is always excellent; the representatives are helpful and they are prepared to go out of their way to help solve any problems we have." Linde Lansing finds the quality of the equipment is very high, giving good results and is easy to use, whilst on the consumables side, the quality is always consistent.
