Due to the equipment having to withstand the harsh treatment of an educational environment, the welding section always chooses Murex for ruggedness and reliability when specifying kit for its wide range of welding courses that cover all the major processes.
In addition to using TIG torches and oxy-fuel gas-cutting equipment, the college was already using Murex headshields and gloves when the decision was made to purchase the new overalls.
Mr. Bob Evans, Welding Lecturer at Ystrad Mynach College, expanded on the reasons behind the purchase of the Proban overalls, "Under new legislation, we have to provide our trainees with maximum protection for health and safety reasons. We do a lot of overhead and pipe welding and if we gave our trainees poly-cotton overalls and something happened to them, we would be liable. We need the best available, and the Murex overalls certainly are".
As well as offering maximum protection, the overalls have provided additional benefits to the college. Mr. Evans continued, "The smart new overalls have gone down really well and have made a difference to the students' outlook. They make them feel part of a team and give them a sense of identity. Like all our equipment, the overalls do get battered about a bit by the students. That's why we always choose Murex because we know we can depend on it." "
