IMPROVED WELDING WIRE FOR STEEL APPLICATION

Process: MIG
Product: Bostrand BW1 Solid Wire

Improved arc stability is one of the improvements just announced by Murex Welding Products to its Bostrand BW1 mild steel welding wire. It is designed for welding most mild and carbon-manganese steels.

Bostrand BW1 is a general purpose mild steel, non-copper coated solid welding wire. It uses Ar/20CO2 mixtures or CO2 as the shielding gas, and is available in 0.8mm, 1.0mm and 1.2mm wire diameters. Wire feed rates are from a minium of 3.2 metres per minute for 0.8mm and up to a maximum of 15.0 metres per minute for both 1.0mm and 1.2mm wire. Similarly, wire deposit rates start at 0.8kg/hr for 0.8mm wire and reaching a maximum of 8.0kg/hr for 1.2mm wire.

In addition to improved arc stability, the improved Bostrand BW1 has uniform wire feed properties, no problems with copper flaking and reduced corrosion risk, allowing it to be kept in storage for longer periods. Suitable for both manual and robotic welding, Bostrand BW1 has a number of approvals including MOD/Navy and is classified to EN440-G3 Sil (BS 2901: Pt1 1983: A18).
